Wounds that Never Heal

After fighting some more undead guardians, the heirs face the first of the magical seals. Cailynn deduces that each lock requires someone to face a painful memory from their past, allowing them to relive that moment and offer some comfort to their younger selves.

While navigating through a twisted labyrinth, each heir faces their memory. Cailynn relives her first night in Crown's Rest, where she felt her family was truly gone. She offers herself in comfort, and tells her younger self that there is still much to look forward to with this new family. She is not alone.

Marik relives the wedding between Talon and Circe, where he felt the family he wanted was goen forever, and uncertain of his place in this new family. Marik tries to console his younger self, telling him that he would grow stronger despite the hardship.

Via relives the day where she was sent off to Arcanveil, and how upset she was at being sent away despite the support of her family. Via also sees a conversation between here parents, where Circe says that she must return to her homeland and make it clear that Via doesn't have the gift. She says this way "only one of us will die".

Xanthe relives several memories, where opportunities and moments are taken away from her as she feels like she is continually losing everything. She is able to hold on to a specific memory though where Talon has Via give an announcement that was typically reserved to Xanthe. In that moment, instead of belittling her sister, Xanthe offers support to make sure that she does a good job, to Talon's Joy.

Edwinn recalls his memories of isolated the last few years, how even on his last trip home it felt his family was too busy for him to the point where he decided to go back to the Nornathi early. However, this time he chooses to stay and spend more time with Cailynn, realizing how alone she must have still felt at the time.

With the seals broken, the heirs are able to push further inside. One of the final puzzles they have to face requires telling a secret that no one else has heard before. Each sibling speaks, offering up their own private thoughts.

Edwinn admits that he had the opportunity to tell his family about his wife and child but chose not to.

Cailynn acknowledges that she envies all her siblings, but envies Xanthe the most.

Xanthe admits that she still misses her mother.

Via says that when she pictures her mother, she frequently blurs the image between Circe and Xanthe.

Marik states that he believes once the King's Hand is disbanded that all the siblings will go their separate ways.

Finally, Thorn admits that she sometimes wishes she had taken as an egg, believing that she only causes pain for the heirs.

With the seals removed and navigated, the heirs press further in, but soon hear voices up ahead, realizing that they have managed to catch up to the cultists already inside. The heirs prepare to launch an ambush against their enemies.
