About House Thornefield
A city in a mountain basin — pale wood, white stone, hanging gardens, a lake between the streets and the peak. Outsiders expect mud and peasants and find horticulture. They feed the entire kingdom and it has bought them dependence rather than deference. Eight hundred years ago, during the rebellion against the Dragon's Triarchy, they held back until the fighting was nearly won; the consensus is that they would have sided with whoever looked likely to prevail, and it is still the first thing anyone says about them.
