Beggars and Choosers

After buying some extra supplies the heirs set off with Captain Moreau, making their way to Zepharos' Tower. The first night they set up watch and Marik and Cailynn take it together. Marik questions their purpose for being here, with Cailynn believing it to be a test for them to grow and develop as Falkrests, heirs, and potential heroes. Marik shares his own fears, believing that Talon has foreseen his own death through one of Via's visions. After some discussion, the two seem to agree to put much of the past behind them, and focus purely on the benefit and survival of their family.

Xanthe and Edwinn share the next watch, with Edwinn able to tell that Xanthe is watching him strangely. They discuss his behavior the past few months and the nature of trust between them, as Xanthe fears that Edwinn will continue to choose his wife and child over the siblings should the need arise. Edwinn resolutely states that he will always work and find a way to save both, and he would never doom one group to save the other.

After their chat ends, Edwinn is visited by Pelor in a vision, with the being introducing himself as the former God of Light in this world. He acknowledges Edwinn's desire to grow in power to help protect others and wishes to help him. Edwinn is hesitant and confused, but the two continue to talk and eventually agree. Pelor offers his aid and only asks for Edwinn to do some key tasks later as they arise. He changes Edwinn's gauntlet and promises to remove the chance for any foreign voices to invade his mind as they had.

Edwinn wakes up the remaining siblings and shares his news and his excitement. While some of the siblings seem cuatiously optimistic, others are concerned with yet another voice seeming to have influence over Edwinn once again. With everyone awake, they set off on their next day of travel.

Down the road, they hear the sound of hooves as Torwynn Astralor catches up, apologizing for being late and his behavior to them the last time they spoke. He reaffirms that he wishes to travel with them to help both Ederia and Soleilae despite his feelings towards the locations. He is accepted and brought into the fold.

As the heirs travel down the Pilgrim's Road, they come across several cultists moving in the same direction. After stopping to speak with them, they learn that the leader is heading to find the surviving refugees from the nearby settlement that was ransacked, hoping to provide food and aid. The other cultists are to move to Zepharos's tower, where they are to be used to break the siege on the tower.

The heirs strike out, quickly dispatching the cultists, save for their leader. Edwinn receives a message from Pelor, calling upon the man to repent and find his way back to the light once again. Edwinn sends him to Solebreuve. Meanwhile, Marik attempts to removed one of the gem decides lodged into the necks of one of the cultists, however the gem soon explodes. Moreau is able to tell that the gem is able to concentrate one's essence so that it can be better harnassed.

Moreau speaks with Xanthe, questioning her about her casting style and offering to help train with her on the road while they're together. With the dead cultists littering the road, the heirs continue their journey towards the tower.
