The Night After Storm and Steel

Xanthe, Cailynn, and Edwinn wake up surrounded by the surviving Roquette pirates. After checking on each other, they are approached by Captain Roquette who interrogates Xanthe, but doesn't believe the answers that she gives. To teach her a lesson, the Captain cuts off one of Xanthe's horns and gives her time to reconsider.

Meanwhile, Marik and Via rest in order to gather strength to save their older siblings. As they sit, Via opens up about the aura that she sensed from Marik. She explains that when she looked at him she saw a bloated corpse, his body chained underwear, and a falcon and kraken fighting, with the falcon seemingly losing the fight. Marik says that the images don't seem familiar to him, leaving him with more questions than answers about his curse.

Marik and Via eventually arrive where the pirates are keeping the others. However, before they can enact their plan, Xanthe strikes at the captain with magic, causing all hell to break loose. With Via creating a distraction, Marik is able to cut the bindings on his siblings before they flee. However, Xanthe attacks the captain, using her bident and ice magic to shatter her forearm as they retreat.

Wanting to flee the pirates, the siblings pass through the Garden of Glass, a spooky area that is visited by numerous spirits who died in a natural disaster years ago. Cailynn is able to communicate with them and they offer a path out of the maze.

Arriving at Sandraport, the heirs are allowed in after presenting their papers (including fake ones that were made) and explaining the pirate attack. Their rooms are paid for, and transportation is arranged for them to leave the next morning.

Edwinn attempts to comfort Xanthe, saying that she did everything she could and that they would pursue the captain eventually. Xanthe is dismissive and insults Edwinn, saying that his healing magic would have been better had he taken his duties seriously.

Edwinn leaves, but not before saying that he still loves and supports Xanthe, and he understands that she doesn't mean what she's saying, even if she doesn't believe that.

Cailynn creates some tea to aid with sleep and offers it to all the siblings, who all eventually accept. The siblings are happy to be reunited, but the events of the last day seem to have affected them all deeply in different ways.

They all soon head to bed, ready to continue their mission the next day.
