Session 15

The King's Helping Hand

Talon arrives, greeting his children warmly before returning to Sunveil Keep to discuss their next steps. Talon questions if they are sure they want to go through using the edict of mercy, to which the children agree. Talon asks Marik to deliver the edict, believing that his position as the son of two prominent royal houses will give more weight to the declaration.

However, before leaving, Talon warns the children that he's disappointed in the fighting that he has heard between them. The heirs all question why exactly he formed the King's Hand and his lack of contributing to their success, as he and the council seem to refuse to give any feed back on their last mission to Rosemont. Talon explains that he can't tell them the entire truth right now, though he promises that he's trying to do what's best for the family and all of Ederia, wanting to do what he can to repair the rifts that exist between the siblings before it is too late. The responses to this are mixed, though most of the siblings don't leave satisfied with the answer.

Arriving at the Rectory, Marik delivers the edict of Mercy to High Solar Derek. After a tense trip through the Rectory, they are able to talk him down from using force against them or the Lady Iradessa. As they escort the lady out, tension seems to build between several of the factions before Derek orders them to lower their weapons and allow the King's Hand to leave unfarmed. Xanthe speaks to Derek, opening up about how she beleives he was trying to do the right thing. However, the High Sunkeeper shows up, removing Derek as the High Solar shortly afterward.

In front of the Church of Unity, Talon and the heirs all perform the rites associated with the edict of mercy, fully pardoning her. Marik speaks to the crowd briefly, wanting to ensure everyone that this will be a new beginning for the King's Hand, and hopes to dissuade the fears and rumors encircling them.

Back at the keep, everyone prepares for dinner. Edwinn heads to visit Cailynn and finds her upset, feeling that she has no reason to be there and wants to go back to the Serpent's Grove. Edwinn does what he can to offer support and guidance, though he understands exactly why Cailynn feels the way that she does.

After dinner, Edwinn speaks to Talon and opens up about his family and how they are being threatened. Talon wants to know more and asks who is threteaning them, but Edwinn chooses to not tell Talon, believing that it would only cause more problems. He requests to get his wife and daughter to safety before they start working against this individual. Talon seems to disagree but ultimately accepts his decision. He offers Edwinn support before the eldest sibling heads to bed.

Via goes to visit Cailynn and suggests that they have a sleepover, spending more time and bonding together. Cailynn agrees, and even offers to let Via invite Xanthe should she wish. Xanthe accepts and the three sisters all bond and spend the evening together, though Xanthe does return to sleep in her own room.

With the stage set to return to Skyhaven, the heirs all prepare to leave Faithspire behind while traveling in their father's airship.
