High Solar Derek Marathis

The High Solar who called Lady Irredesca's prophecy blasphemy where she lay, then opened an investigation that would have ended with her execution. He invoked ancient Edicts to bar even the King's Hand from Sunveil Keep. His own father supported the Kythons during the calamity, which he tells Octavia without being asked, along with the question of whether she could stand against her family if it came to it. He stood down before the Edict of Mercy, and the High Sunkeeper removed him from the office soon after.
